BOARD MEETING
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2005 @ 7:00 P.M.
@ Friendship Township Hall
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor. Board members Major, Troup, Scott, Van Divner and Ward present.
Agenda approved.
Minutes of July meeting stood approved as presented.
Treasurer’s report received.
Middle Village Park- Board held discussion regarding Readmond Township’s motion that Middle Village Park Management Committee be restructured. A letter from Martin Breighner III was read into the record and is attached to minutes. Ward to contact Readmond Township Supervisor Diana Call regarding their reasoning behind their motion and to request that they meet with us.
The Township’s request to the County for zoning change from SR-2 to FF-2 has been filed. Scott will request that at least one of the hearings be held here at Friendship Township Hall.
Emmet County Case No. 43-05 Request by Robert Mossburg for Special Use Permit to create more than 5 parcels in a 10 year period.
-Ward moved, Major seconded, PASSED, to accept Friendship Township Planning Commission recommendation for approval with their comment that parcel “D” be increased to 2.02 acres, since it is in the current RR-2 and would be nonconforming if the township’s proposed zoning change to FF-2 goes through. If he chooses to increase this lot size to 2.02 acres there is no need for re-review. (5-0)
Emmet County Case 17B78 Request by Brian and Christine Mackenzie for a 1) variance for original structure which encroaches 14”+ on the setback, and 2) a second story on the original footprint.
-Scott moved, Van Divner seconded, PASSED, to accept the Friendship Township Planning Commission’s recommendation for approval, barring any objections from the adjacent neighbors. (5-0)
-Scott moved, Van Divner seconded, PASSED, that Board is opposed to allowing ATV and ORV’s to use Friendship Township’s seasonal roads and road shoulders because of safety concerns, possible influx of ATV users, and possible environmental impact. (4-1).
-Van Divner moved, Scott seconded, PASSED, to approve expenditure of up to $300 from Contingency for Ben Vehling to review wood stands for logging necessity recommendation and disease assessment. (5-0)
Wind Power Generator Tour scheduled for August 17th. Meet at Township hall at 2:30 or at Mackinaw Village Hall at 102 S. Huron St. at 4:00 p.m.
Major reviewed bills and checks for accuracy.
-Van Divner moved, Scott seconded, PASSED, to approve payment of bills. Checks # 5051-5068 were written in the amount of $6,790.57. (5-0)
