Cross Village Township Board Meeting Minutes 2-05-08 Present: Howard Wood, Maria Krupa, Gene Reck, Catherine Schlappi, Steve Keller
Call to order: The regular meeting of the Cross Village board was called to order by Supervisor Wood at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all present.
Motion: made by Clerk Reck supported by Trustee Keller to approve the agenda Motion carried .
Motion: to approve the December minutes made by Supervisor Wood and supported by Clerk Reck. Motion carried.
Motion: to approve December Treasurer’s report made by Clerk Reck and supported by Trustee Schlappi. Motion carried.
Motion: to approve January Treasurer’s report made by Clerk Reck and supported by Trustee Keller. Motion carried.
Total bills paid December 2007-$ 7,040.25. Total bills paid January 2008-$ 29,339.25.
Announcements/Correspondence: Clerk briefly discussed the proposal from Cherry Capital Connection to provide Broadband for Cross Village, Redmond and Friendship through an investment by the townships to provide capital for the venture. It will be discussed next month.

Committee Reports: None
Old Business: a. Clerk Reck offered Resolution #2008-001 Sale of Township land to William and Mary Johnson and it was supported by Treasurer Krupa. Upon a role call vote the resolution passed unanimously. b. Wycamp Lake: Supervisor Wood moved that the name of Wycamp lake be changed to an appropriate translation of spirit in Odawa, Clerk Reck supported. Upon a role call vote Yes: H. Wood, G. Reck. No: S. Keller, C. Schlappi, M. Krupa. New Business a. Tammy Doernenburg from Emmet County Planning, Zoning and Construction Resources was present to discuss a resolution of support for the department to investigate a change in business signs, Clerk Reck offered Resolution #2008-02 To Support Tourist Oriented Directional Signs (TODS) in Cross Village and it was supported by Treasurer Krupa. Upon a role call vote the resolution passed unanimously. b. Property on the bluff that has the cross. Supervisor Wood reported that Tom Graham is planning to sell this property. Discussion of how, why and if the Township should buy this land in order to preserve this important landmark. A milage, a land contract and possible donor were discussed. Before anything will be done there must be a public meeting. c. The date for the budget workshop has been set for February 19, 10:00am at the CVCC. Public are invited to attend this important process. d. Motion: Clerk Reck moved and Supervisor Wood supported the slate of meeting dates for the coming year. Motion passed unanimously.
Second Public Comment: Support for the purchase of the cross property was expressed.
Motion to Adjourn: Supervisor Wood moved and Treasurer Krupa supported a motion to adjourn at 8:00 pm. Motion passed unanimously.
