Little Traverse Township Zoning Board May 14, 2007 7:30 P.M. At the Township Hall The meeting was called to order by Chairman Joe Chattaway.
Roll call: Jean Beckley, present Joe Chattaway, present John Johnson, present
Ed Shepherd, present Marty Van Berlo, present
Also present were: Bill Dohm, Randy Frykberg, Tammy Doernenburg, and Jane Taylor.
Minutes:
A motion to approve the minutes of March 5, 2007 as presented was offered by Johnson and supported by Van Berlo. Approved by voice vote.
Agenda:
There was no objection to the agenda as presented. Elect Officers:
Johnson motioned to elect Joe Chattaway as chairman of the Zoning Board, Marty Van Berlo as the vice chair and Jean Beckley as secretary. Support for the motion came from Shepherd and was approved by Roll call vote. Beckley, yes; Shepherd, yes; Van Berlo, yes; Johnson, yes; Chattaway, yes.
Review proposal to create a PUD overlay section to the Zoning Ordinance Randy Frykberg presented the draft PUD overlay section to the Zoning Ordinance and asked the Board for their comments, ideas and areas of concerns.
Bill Dohm said we need to look at transition areas between residential and business areas. He felt that a PUD could be a good buffering tool. He noted there are 2 kinds of PUD’s. One is the overlay type and the other is a planned development that is actually rezoned for that use only.
Tammy Doernenburg offered her advice, noting the issues the County has with their PUD.
The Board agreed that the concept of the PUD Overlay section should be persued.
The Board went through the draft overlay section page by page with questions and concerns. Randy Frkberg will incorporate the changes into the PUD section and present it to the Board at the next meeting. Open Discussion for issues not on the agenda:a. Correspondence Received- noneb.
