Board Meeting
Minutes

Present: Maria Krupa, Gene Reck, Steve Keller, Catherine Schlappi

Call to order: The regular meeting of the Cross Village board was called to order by Supervisor Wood at 7:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all present.

Motion: made by Trustee Keller supported by Clerk Reck to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Motion: to approve the September 9, 2008 minutes made by Clerk Reck and supported by Trustee Keller.  Motion carried.

Motion: to approve Treasurer’s report made by Supervisor Wood and supported by Clerk Reck.  Motion carried.

Total bills paid September 2008-$ 25,447.54

Announcements/Correspondence: None

 Public comments: None

Committee Reports:
a. Memorial sign for port:  The committee report was received and discussed. Motion by Clerk Reck, seconded by Trustee Keller to adopt the wording for the sign as proposed by the committee.
Upon roll call vote, the following member(s) voted Aye: G. Reck, M. Krupa, S. Keller, C. Schlappi, and H. Wood Motion Passed.
 
Old Business
a.  Old Town hall:  The Historical Society has received the lease termination letter and will sign it and return it.

New Business:
a.  Election Procedures:  County Clerk Gail Martin reviewed in detail the procedures for the handling of the absentee ballots due to phone calls and expressed concerns.  She assured all that they are secure.  Questions followed.
b.  Harbor Springs Library:  A resolution by the board to establish a committee to consider the possibility of establishing a district library will be presented at the November meeting.  Also on October 21 at 7:00 pm the library committee will make a presentation at the CVCC to those interested.  They are seeking the maximum possible input from our community.

Motion to adjourn at 8:10 pm the meeting made by Clerk Reck and supported by Supervisor Wood.  Motion carried.
