Barkley sent Chestnut Valley’s 07 tax bills certified mail return receipt and it came back unclaimed. B. Wurst and M. Barkley hand delivered 07 tax bills on Friday, May 16, 2008. M. Barkley reported that it went well.
M. Barkley reported to the Board that she received email from the township attorney Lori Luckett. Ms. Luckett said although the seller/previous owner never made it to bankruptcy, she learned that tax liens are not dischargeable and follow the property. If the personal property had been sold, money from the sale should have been applied to the outstanding tax obligation. The taxes owed are the responsibility of the seller, absent thereof by the purchasers. In regards to the liquor license if the license is being transferred they will have to get a tax clearance certificate to show that taxes have been paid.
M. Barkley will be gathering more information for Ms. Luckett and will report back to the Board.
Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
