Cross Village Township Board Meeting Minutes 3-04-08 Present: Howard Wood, Maria Krupa, Gene Reck, Catherine Schlappi, Steve Keller
Call to order: The regular meeting of the Cross Village board was called to order by Supervisor Wood at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all present.
Motion: made by Clerk Reck supported by Trustee Schlappi to close the Meeting at 7:01. Motion carried.
Call to order: The regular meeting of the Cross Village board was called back to order by Supervisor Wood at 7:23 p.m.
Motion: made by Clerk Reck supported by Treasurer Krupa to approve the agenda as amended to include under new business the library and the assessor’s report. Motion carried.
Motion: to approve Treasurer’s report made by Supervisor Wood and supported by Clerk Reck. Motion carried.
Motion: to approve February minutes made by Supervisor Wood and supported by Clerk Reck. Motion carried.
Motion: to raise the mileage rate to $0.505 per mile made by Clerk Reck and supported by Supervisor Wood. Motion carried.

Committee Reports: no reports
Old Business: a. Broadband: Clerk Reck reported that the Michigan Township Association has produced a report on what Townships can do to promote Broadband services. Further discussion is planned. A public meeting will be held before anything ids done.
New Business: a. Variance for Dicken: A request to build a garage on the bluff side of Chippewa on a parcel that is part of #24-04-34-151-0-75 that does not allow room for appropriate setbacks. Motion: to grant the variance to Dicken made by Clerk Reck and supported by Treasurer Krupa. Motion carried. b. Oak Drive: Supervisor Wood discussed the problem of the use of cars on the seasonal portion of Oak Drive. According to Policy NO 1999-008 on seasonal roads they are closed to all traffic from November to April except for those who live along the road. The road is currently being plowed all the way through which cause a potential safety issues when cars and sleds meet. The possibility of township liability was discussed. No action was taken. c. Harbor Springs library: C. Stanford and Judy Harvey discussed the plans for a new public library and the townships possible role. After a building is built they expect operating expenses of $250K/year to be funded by a mileage. d. Assessor Tim Grimm presented the attached report and answered questions. The Board of Review will meet on March 10, 2pm to 5pm & 6pm to 9pm; March 11, 9am to 12pm & 1pm to 4pm.
Second Public comment: A question about what are the next steps in getting broadband.
Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Trustee Schlappi and supported by Clerk Reck. Motion carried.
