FRIENDSHIP TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2008 @ 7:00 P.M. @ Friendship Township Hall DRAFT
Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Scott. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Roll call by clerk: Major, Troup, Ward, Scott and Van Divner present. Agenda approved with addition of: 14. a. follow up on signage request by Lower Shore Drive Property Owners Association, and b. review of letter from neighboring property owner, Stebbins
Minutes of April 2nd meeting approved with correction of check numbers, which should read “checks # 1434-1452”.
Middle Village Committee report by Gary Abent- construction to boardwalk to include replacement of spindles which were vandalized, addition of 3 steps and a 10 ft floating walk to end of current boardwalk, at approximate cost of 1,800, to be completed by Memorial Day weekend.
Planning- County Case 20B-98 Becky MacGregor request for a Site Plan Review Amendment- already approved by County Planning Commission. County Case 9A-03 Reid request for a setback variance- Scott moved, Ward seconded, PASSED, to support the recommendation of Friendship Township Planning as follows: Approve a variance for the house and garage with the stipulation that the garage should not encroach into the setback any more than the house currently does on the prints dated 8/1/07. This appears to be approx. 5 or 6 feet. (5-0)
County Case 8-08 Request by County Planning Commission to amend the text of Article XXII Sec 2207 - being reviewed by Township Planning Commission, no action taken.
Major moved, Van Divner seconded, PASSED, in regard to the logging easement, that McAvoy Trust be held to contract wording for usage period of six (6) months, equaling $1,800. (5-0)
Van Divner moved, Major seconded, PASSED by unanimous roll call voted, to approve contract with Emmet County Road Commission for wedging Hurd Road, cost not be exceed $40,200, plus 10% contingency, as per the Road Commission’s March 19, 2008 estimate.
Ward moved, Major seconded, PASSED, to request the Emmet County Road Commission to install a pedestrian warning sign approximately 200 yds south of north entrance of Lower Shore Drive. Township is to be reimbursed by Lower Shore Drive Property Owners Association, per letter from them dated April 30, 2008. (5-0)
Public Comment. Troup reviewed bills and checks for accuracy.
Major moved, Troup seconded, PASSED by unanimous roll call vote, to approve payment of bills. Checks # 1453-1480 were written in the amount of $10,448.24.
