Welcome to the Hammerhead Swim Club. We are located in Northern Michigan on the banks of Little Traverse Bay. The Hammerhead Swim Club is an age group swim team which draws swimmers from Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Alanson, Charlevoix, and Boyne City.
The Hammerhead Swim Club is an age-group program, which means that boys and girls can compete against other swimmers in their own age groups. The divisions are 8 and Under , 9 and 10, 11 and 12, 13 and 14, and 15-18. Boys and Girls each compete in their own divisions.
This competitive swim club offers a comprehensive swimming program with a variety of scheduled meets for varied skills and ages. Swimmers and coaches are the heart of the team but everyone including you - the parent - is part of the Hammerhead Swim Club.
Although ribbons and medals are awarded to top placing swimmers at the various meets, the Hammerhead philosophy is based more on personal improvement and attaining personal goals, for example - bettering your personal time in an event. Participation ribbons will be awarded at every meet. The coaches also attempt to broaden the swimmers' skills by entering them in events of various distances and strokes.
The objective of the team is to provide a wholesome environment to foster self-growth, self-realization and enhance self-esteem in an aquatic setting. Enthusiasm for competitive swimming will grow by participation in regularly scheduled and supervised training sessions, as well as dual and championship meets, with emphasis on skills, sportsmanship, self-discipline and character.
All parents are urged to participate in team activities, and encourage swimmers to regularly attend practices, meets and team functions. Some of the areas where parent help is needed include assisting at home meets, car pooling, chaperoning, working on fundraising projects, etc. We urge you to become active in the club. In order to be successful, a swim club must depend on the support and enthusiasm of the parents backing it.
Any questions, concerns, or suggestions you have concerning the Hammerhead Swim Club can be directed to any of the board members or coaches.
Information regarding the 2007/2008 season will be posted as it becomes available.
