EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

WEDNESDAY, September 10, 2008; 12:00 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by Denise Simon at 12:06 pm.  Executive Director Danna Widmar, staff member Preston McGregor and EC candidate Jeanne Benjamin were also present.

Financials/Fundraising

No financials were presented.

Current Business/Reportsa.      

a. United Way Day of Caring September 16, 2008 – HARBOR Inc and H.S. Public Schools will collaborate to improve the Hoover property M-119 frontage. H.S. Excavating removed the broken concrete slabs on 9/9/08. The 6^th grade service learning class will complete raking and seeding on 9/16/08.

b.  Harbor Light editorial 9/3/08 – Widmar read favorable editorial of HARBOR Inc regarding M-119 trail work and progress.

c.  High Speed Internet – Cross Village, Readmond and Friendship Townships have all unanimously passed resolutions supporting a grant application to cover up front infrastructure costs for high speed internet. Mary Ellen Hughes made motion to support grant application using funds as a resource to defray fixed internet costs in a demonstration area. Motion was seconded by Kathie Breighner. Motion Carried.  

d.  M-119 Trail Update – Widmar gave presentation of problem areas which will potentially require up to $50,000 in local funds for trail space. These problems include fencing, moving buildings and drainage. This presentation and a vote will be given at Harbor Inc board meeting 9/17/08.

e.  Annual Meeting Speaker – Widmar requested input from EC regarding possible speakers for 2009 annual meeting.         

Meeting Schedule/Adjournment:The Executive Committee – next regular meeting will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at noon at City Hall.  Board of Director’s Meeting – Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 8:00AM Pleasantview Township Hall.
