Financial Report
The finance report was discussed. Because of our late summer fundraising, in a typical year we have more funds coming in later in the year. At this point in the year, we look light on revenues compared to expenses but this is a typical financial picture for HARBOR, Inc.
We have received funding from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Community Foundation for a Safe Routes to School grant project. Other grant work by Danna with Frey is underway. Jim Bartlett moved, seconded by Sandy Baker, to approve the finance report. Motion carried.
Fundraising
Discussion took place regarding fundraising and specifically to host a bike-a-thon with pledges made based on the number of miles the riders complete. Jack Deegan, Doug Tayler, Joan Fenton, Denise Simon, Neal McCue and others will work on details for an event this summer.
Strategic Planning Process
Work will continue on the various steps of the strategic with much of the details coming from the executive committee with review and comment by the full board.
Petoskey Area Transportation Study
Danna presented an overview of the transportation study underway in Petoskey. This study included analysis of traffic flows and projected future use. Discussion took place about the direction of the plan and its impact on the HARBOR, Inc. area.
Bike Trail Update
MDOT has selected a consultant to initiate survey work and construction documents. With the engineering contract sign, MDOT will meet with HARBOR, Inc. to discuss design proposals and easement considerations.
Recreation Committee
The committee is proceeding. Resolutions were received by six jurisdictions with one remaining. The committee will continue working with an Open Space Committee and consider projects for 2008.
