HARBOR, Inc., a citizen-based organization in the Harbor Springs, Michigan area, is searching for an Executive Director.  The move is prompted by the departure of Rachel R. Smolinski.  Smolinski has accepted a new role as Alpena City Manager, effective December 9.

“Rachel’s departure creates a need for HARBOR, Inc. to hire an energetic, creative and public-minded person to lead the organization,” said HARBOR, Inc. Board Chair Gary Stewart.  “This is an exciting position offering high visibility and the opportunity to lead a variety of projects in our community.”

HARBOR, Inc. has a solid 18-year history of identifying and supporting projects to enhance the quality of life in the Harbor Springs area.  Examples include helping to connect bicycle and pedestrian trails, improving community access to broadband, keeping unused medications from our waterways, and leading the Little Traverse Bay Housing Partnership to provide affordable housing options in Emmet County.

“HARBOR, Inc. works to be an innovator of beneficial projects in our community.” said Stewart.  “A current example is The Loft coworking space in downtown Harbor that has been bringing seasonal residents who are in business to the Harbor Springs commercial center downtown for networking and business development.”

Interested candidates for the Executive Director position can download a position description and send a cover letter, resume, and references to Bill Mulder via email at billmulder.harborinc@gmail.com. The position will be open until filled.
